Mick Halsall Appointed Notts County Head Of Academy Coaching

8 August 2014

Notts County are delighted to announce the appointment of highly-rated coach Mick Halsall as the club’s new Head of Academy Coaching.

Halsall, who came through the youth system at Liverpool as a player, before going on to represent Birmingham City, Carlisle United, Grimsby Town and Peterborough United, has forged a strong reputation as a coach and particularly for his work in youth development.

The former midfielder was Head of Youth Development at Sky Bet League 1 rivals Walsall before leaving to join Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2009.

Having helped bring through the likes of Scott Dann, Troy Deeney and Matty Fryatt during his time at Walsall, Halsall has a proven track record of bringing youngsters through to the first team and beyond, which he will be looking to build upon here at Meadow Lane.

The 53-year-old took his second training session with the U18 squad on Friday and will get to see the youth team in action for the first time on Saturday, when they play host to Doncaster Rovers at our new training base at Eagle Valley (Arnold Town FC, Kick-off 11am).

Magpie Player subscribers will be able to see the exclusive first interview with Mick and the official website will be catching up with him to get updates on the progress of the youth setup here at Meadow Lane throughout the season.
