Mick Halsall Appointed Academy Manager

18 September 2015

Notts County Football Club are delighted to announce Mick Halsall as the club’s new Academy Manager.

Bootle-born Mick came through the academy ranks as a player at Liverpool before embarking upon a career spanning nearly 350 appearances for clubs such as Birmingham City, Carlisle United and Peterborough United. When his playing career ended he fast picked up a glowing reputation for his work in youth coaching.

Speaking with the Official Site, Mick told us: “I’m obviously over the moon. I’ve been here just over a year with the intent of trying to improve the academy. I’d like to think that will continue for the future.

“I came in as Head Of Coaching so I feel privileged to make the step up to Academy Manager.”

CEO Luke Negus-Hill told the OS: “We are delighted with the appointment of Mick. Recruiting from within means he already has the knowledge and understanding of our players. This will only lead to further increasing the quality of our academy.”

“We wish Mick all the best going forward, and we look forward to a successful year. We have no doubt he is the right man for the job.”

As the new Academy manager, Mick will be ultimately responsible for the management of the club’s academy. He will also be developing, defining, implementing and monitoring the club’s philosophy, playing style and coaching syllabus.

You can already catch Mick’s thoughts ahead of our youth team’s game at Hartlepool United on Magpie PlayerHD now.
