McLaughlin: It's Important I Hit The Ground Running

30 September 2014

On-loan winger Stephen McLaughlin is looking to hit the ground running, starting with Tuesday's game at Crewe…

The Irish winger arrived for a month from Nottingham Forest on Monday and is aiming to get as many games in during the next four weeks.

The 24-year-old was on loan at Bristol City last season and is hoping he is given a chance to get some much needed game time.

He told Magpie Player: "It was an easy decision to make. This will give me a chance to play some games and some minutes in and then come back and hopefully ready to go at Forest.

"I just need a run of games. I went to Bristol City last year and it never really kicked on for me.

"Hopefully this time around things go well for me. The location is perfect and the first session was grand.

"We didn't do much on the training pitch, with the Crewe game coming up, which I'm really looking forward to.

"I'm here to create and score goals, and hopefully maintain that defensive record.

"I had to take a chance, I'm not long anymore. I need games and build my reputation and hopefully Notts will do that for me.

"It's for a short period of time to help me get used to senior football and help Nottingham Forest and Notts at the same time.

"It's important I hit the ground running here.
