Defender Manny Smith was the second new player to sign a contract at Meadow Lane on Monday, joining Notts County on a two-year deal.
Smith, who came through the youth ranks at fellow League 1 side Walsall, is an established centre back who has come of age at this level with the Saddlers.
The 23-year-old was delighted to have sealed his move to Meadow Lane and is relishing the next chapter in his blossoming career.
“It’s a big club, very ambitious and I just can’t wait to get started,” he told Magpie Player on Monday.
“I had a few options, but the gaffer here showed great interest in me, I sat down and spoke to him a few times and he was very keen on me and very keen on taking the club forwards.”
