Maiden Voyage For Notts Narrowboat

3 July 2014

Father and son Darryl and John Tennyson took to the River Trent on their special Notts narrowboast, on it’s maiden voyage on Wednesday…

Lifelong fans Darryl and John have been coming to watch the Magpies play for years, but next season will be the first time they won’t have to worry about parking!

The pair set off from Meadow Lane lock on their maiden voyage and are delighted with the paintwork on their new boat, all dedicated to the club.

Darryl explained that after moving house, he needed new accommodation and decided to buy a narrowboat. After much deliberation, the pair visited the Boat Yard on Meadow Lane.

He added: “I decided on the colours, Notts colours of course, black and gold and wanted to include Notts even more somehow.

“We had to have the badge on the top, so wherever we go, everyone will know we are Notts fans. We must be the only people to have the badge on your house!

“We had a chap named Rob Naghi who did all the sign writing and it took around three days. He's done a fantastic job. I love it.

“On a matchday we will be able to park up on the Embankment or here at the Boat Yard and walk yards to the home games.”

Fans can watch a short clip of them at Meadow Lane lock on the club’s You Tube account byclicking here.
