Magpies Staying Grounded

2 April 2014

Manager Shaun Derry is pleased to see that none of his players are getting carried away after Notts County recorded three consecutive wins.

Following the perfect week, which lifted Notts out of the relegation zone, there have been no celebrations.

The Magpies remain in the thick of the fight for Sky Bet League 1 survival and the squad are focused on securing safety in the next six games.

Derry said: “I’ve seen a reaction in the changing room that pleases me and that’s one of definite concentration and an appreciation of what they’ve done.

“I want them to appreciate the hard work that they’ve done but I want them to acknowledge that nothing has been achieved yet.”

The Great Escape goes on the road this weekend with a tough trip to high flying Brentford.

Derry believes that County can leave Griffin Park with a positive result but only if they maintain the same commitment levels displayed in the previous three games.

"I want to go there and I want to nick a point at least,” he continued.

"With this nine points behind us I feel that we can take the shackles off a bit.

"There's pressure on all the time but we can go there with a different kind of focus.

"We need to make sure that we continue to make the right decisions.

"If we do then we'll give them a game and if that performance comes then I fancy us at the minute."
