Louis Laing: Get Some Games Under My Belt And Push On

13 September 2014

New signing Louis Laing is looking forward to life at Notts County and the possibility to gain some valuable first team experience, starting with this weekend’s trip to Peterborough United.

The 21-year-old finalised his month-long emergency loan move to Meadow Lane on Friday and spoke to Magpie Player about the transfer and his career to date.

Laing said in his first interview after sealing his move: “I started off with Sunderland, as a youngster, and I was there for seven or eight years. I had a bit of experience with Wycombe Wanderers when they were in League 1, on loan for six months and I got a couple of games there.

“I went through England, all youths, 16s, 17s, 18s, 19s and 20s and obviously signed for Forest at the start of this season but now I’m here, hopefully to get some games under my belt and push on even further,” he added.

“Hopefully I’ve got a good opportunity here to show what I can do, show the fans what I can do, show the manager and hopefully hit the ground running.

“Literally I got a phonecall this morning from one of the Nottingham Forest coaches basically just saying that Notts County are interested in taking you and that was the first I’d heard of it, so I just assume that the manager here contacted Forest and it went from there.

“I settled in quite well this morning. I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow, hit the ground running, get a win and get the three points most importantly. All the lads were good to me this morning so yeah it’s exciting.”

Laing has been handed the number 34 shirt and will be available for selection for the Sky Bet League 1 clash at London Road on Saturday.
