Liddle Overwhelmed By Awards Haul

1 May 2013

Defender Gary Liddle needed assistance to carry all of his trophies out of the Meadow Lane Sports Bar, following the 2012.13 End of Season Awards.

Liddle scooped the Manager’s Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Fans’ Player of the Year and the Supporters’ Club Player of the Year at the Tuesday night event.

He was also presented with another prize for completing every minute of league action during the campaign – something not Magpies player has done since Pedro Richards 30 years ago.

“The two that I look to are the fans’ and the players’ one, as coming to a new club you’ve got to prove yourself again and both awards show that I’ve done that,” he told the official site.

“I’m thrilled, overwhelmed and really, really happy because I came here not expecting anything.

“There’s a handful of players that people would say were up for awards because of those players that have performed week in and week out.

“The likes of Deano [Leacock] and Bart [Bialkowski] have been terrific this season and I wouldn’t have begrudged them an award.

“It’s just a shame that the awards didn’t come off the back of a successful season but these awards are few and far between.

“I’ll enjoy them and my summer and look to get back into again to go again next season.”
