Lee Hughes: Official Statement

23 November 2012

Notts County Chief Executive Jim Rodwell has moved to clarify the situation regarding a proposed loan move for Lee Hughes in light of recent media speculation...

Speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, Rodwell said: “Contrary to inaccurate press reports, Notts County would like to confirm that Lee Hughes has not left the club on loan.

“As a football club, Notts County do not have the luxury of reporting on speculation or gossip, we only deal with facts.

“A proposed loan deal for Lee Hughes to go to Port Vale was discussed, however as it was so late in the day, the paperwork did not go through in time and we’re delighted to confirm that Lee remains a Notts County player,” he added.

“We have been widely criticised on various social media sites for not commenting on newspaper reports but this is exactly why we do not make public statements until everything is signed and sealed.

“I would encourage all of our supporters to check both the official website and Magpie Player for the very latest, and official, news on all transfer activity in and out of Meadow Lane.”

Hughes will miss Saturday’s visit of Swindon Town as he starts a three-match ban after being charged by the Football Association for an incident in our npower League 1 match at Scunthorpe United last weekend.
