Jordan Richards Completes Sligo Rovers Loan

29 January 2016

Notts County academy graduate Jordan Richards - son of Magpies legend Pedro - has joined League Of Ireland Premier Division side Sligo Rovers.

Having signed a deal lasting until the end of June, Jordan’s move is the first of an exciting linkup between the two sides with a view to aiding the development of upcoming Notts County talent.

Speaking to the Official Site of his excitement of the move, midfielder Richards said, "It's been a great few months at Boston Utd and can't thank them enough. But the offer to play at Sligo Rover and develop more as a player in a really tough league was something I couldn't turn down. The club came to me about the offer and it just felt the right pathway to make the first team."

Head Of Recruitment Guy Branston added, “It’s a win/win for both clubs and we’re grateful to Sligo manager Dave Robertson and Jamie for making it happen."

"Dave's a fantastic coach and I know this from my time at Peterborough Utd working with him. Jordan will really improve under his guidance."

“Not only will this benefit the growth of our own players, but it gives us an upper hand in player scouting as well in Ireland. Myself, Julian Winter and (Academy Manager) Mick Halsall have had the country in our recruitment and development plans for some time so obviously we’re delighted to see it all come to fruition.”

The move means Jordan has been recalled from a loan at Boston United due to last until the end of the season.

Branston finished off by thanking the Pilgrims for the role they have played in Jordan’s season: “Obviously we’re aware the situation might not have been ideal for Dennis (Greene, the Boston United manager) but it was an opportunity we couldn’t refuse."

“We’ll always be grateful for what they’ve done, not only for Jordan, but for other players we’ve sent there as well and I’m sure we’ll keep in touch with them going forward."
