Striker Jimmy Spencer has seen his contract with the club terminated by mutual consent.
With first team opportunities at Meadow Lane limited by the arrivals of Izale McLeod and Jon Stead in the Summer, Spencer’s role at the club has been largely limited to appearances for the reserve side.
Head Of Recruitment Guy Branston told the Official Site: “Obviously we sympathise with Jimmy and his situation but with a number of clubs interested in signing him we considered this to be the best option for both parties.
“Jimmy has a young family now and he needed to put that first. He’s aware there are clubs chasing his signature so he won’t be without a club for too long. He’s been a great pro for Notts County throughout a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury but also whilst trying to force his way back into first team matters.”
The club wishes Jimmy all the very best for the future.
