Hollis Excited By Weekends Again

19 March 2014

Defender Haydn Hollis is enjoying his weekend’s again following his return to the Notts County first team.

Hollis played his first senior game in almost a year when he was introduced as a first half substitute against MK Dons.

The 21-year-old kept his place for the trip to Tranmere Rovers and, although the Magpies are in a tricky situation, he is delighted to be back in action.

Hollis now hopes to retain his place for the visit of Carlisle United this coming Saturday – a huge fixture if Notts are to make a late fight of Sky Bet League 1 survival.

“I want to be in that team and starting on a Saturday, but I’m sure that every player does,” he told #themag.

“I’ve been sitting up in that stand for a while now and you don’t look forward to weekends at all.

“You look forward to Monday to Friday to try get yourself into that team.

“When you realise you’re not in the team it’s horrible but you’ve got to stay mentally strong and carry on to make sure you’re in the week after.

“I’m not going to lie, it is tough coming back when you’ve not played in so long.

“It’s hard but I’ve said to a few of the lads that once you get that run of five games – and hopefully I’ll get that over the next few games – I feel like I’ll be a lot better and sharper.”

Look out for a big feature with the 6ft 4ins centre-back in this weekend’s edition of the club’s official matchday magazine.
