Halsall: Not Too Far Away From First Win

12 September 2014

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall believes his side aren't too far away from their first three points…

The young Magpies have been narrowly defeated in four of their first five games, but he believes a win is just round the corner.

Halsall's men lost to Rotherham United 1-0 last weekend, but hope to pick up their first win on the road against Hartlepool United on Saturday.

He told the Official Site: "I think the team is still gelling, I'm still getting to know the lads.

"We aren't too far away and some of the games we have lost, have been unlucky. We could be sat here with a bit of luck, saying we've won four out of five.

"We've been ahead in games and in the cup, but not taken our chances. It's just little things we need to tighten up.

"I've spoken to people who have played Hartlepool already this season and we know that they will get in our faces and it will be tough. They are very physical and aggressive and it's up to his to match that.

"Hopefully we can go there and get the first win. We aren't too far from a fully fit squad."

Striker Colby Bishop played the full 90-minutes against Rotherham after he recovered from a hamstring problem.

Full-back Kyle Symons is back with the squad after playing his part in Northern Ireland Under 18s win over Iceland.

However Kieran Blaney and Kenan Layton miss out through injury.
