Good Early Signs

26 July 2012

Boss pleased with passing display at Impact Arena…

Keith Curle is encouraged by the football that the Magpies displayed in the 0-0 draw with Alfreton Town on Wednesday night.

For large periods, particularly in the second half, Notts kept possession, producing some attractive passing moves.

These are just the early signs of Curle’s vision for the new season, which have the potential to provide some exciting displays, as the team gels together.

“It was slightly different conditions from Saturday, a decent passing pitch,” Curle told Magpie Player.

“It suited our style a little bit better and we were able to move the ball around with a little bit more accuracy.

“There was more fluidity in our play which was pleasing, it was a good workout against good opposition.

“They’re a hard-working, tenacious team, Alfreton, and they’re fit lads as well.

“From our point of view there were some good passages of play, where we got into the final third at times with ease.

“There’s still bits and pieces to work on in that final third but it was a very good workout.”

He continued: “It is something that we’ve been working on and by no means is it the finished article, even going into the season we won’t be the finished article.

“If you think there’s been eight, nine, 10 signings coming into the football club, there’s some trialists as well, and we’re trying to get everybody to buy into the team’s philosophy that is being implemented every day in training.”
