Midfielder Andre Boucaud and striker Yoann Arquin will represent their countries at this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The duo have not yet returned to pre-season training due to being called up for Trinidad & Tobago and Martinique respectively.
Both have been named in 23-man squads for the forthcoming tournament, which will take place between 7-28 July in the USA.
Trinidad & Tobago Fixtures:
9/7 – 0:00 BST – El Salvador
13/7 – 0:00 BST – Haiti
16/7 – 2:30 BST - Honduras
Martinique Fixtures:
7/7 – 22:00 BST – Canada
12/7 – 1:30 BST – Panama
14/7 – 21:00 BST – Mexico
Firs team manager Chris Kiwomya hopes that the tournament will help to prepare the pair for the 2013.14 League 1 campaign.
He told Magpie Player: “It’s a good experience for them and there’s nothing better than representing your country.
“They’re playing and getting fit and the climate will be very hot there so that helps as well.
“We hope they’ll come back sharp and we’ll be running tests on them when they get back.
“I know I shouldn’t say it but hopefully they’ll be back sooner rather than later, depending on how far they get in the tournament.”
The official site will be keeping an eye on Boucaud and Arquin’s progress throughout the competition so keep checking back for regular updates.
