Derry: We Fancy Our Chances

12 September 2014

Manager Shaun Derry is expecting his team to show their competitiveness once again this season at London Road this weekend…

Notts make the short trip south to league leaders Peterborough United on the back of a free weekend due to international fixtures.

The Magpies have had extra time to prepare for the Sky Bet League One clash and the boss hopes to be able to call on a number of players who have recovered from injured.

He told Magpie Player: "The boys have had some time off and that doesn't happen very often at this level, but it's given time for players to get closer to fitness.

"The two or three came through a behind closed doors game and we will judge them on their fitness ahead of the Peterborough game.

"It's a tough league and hopefully Peterborough will speak about us and they will be expecting a tough game, that's what I am expecting us to give them.

"We've watched them, but we fancy our chances and we will be at the very least competitive.

"It's a different group for both squads compared to last year, they recruit and source players really well, it's remarkable really and you've got to respect them for it.

"They hand out fees for players and it's different for us and a lot of other clubs in our league.

"They are a big team at our level and they will be one of the favourites, but we will be up for it."
