Derry: We Are In The Hat

10 November 2014

Manager Shaun Derry was disappointed with the result, but his team are in the hat…

Notts couldn't get past a resolute Accrington Stanley in a 0-0 cup draw on Sunday, with both sides now in Monday night's draw for the second round.

The boss admitted his side were missing key players, but with plenty of upsets in the first round, he was content to see the Magpies still in the competition.

Manager Shaun Derry: "The likes of Coventry, Fleetwood and Swindon all lost in the first round and in this competition you don't always have it your own way.

"The FA Cup always produced upsets. We are in the hat.

"We still have a big job to do at Accrington and that will be an almighty task. We have no divine right to win.

"At times we lacked a bit of quality and the final ball was poor.

"People are expecting us to win these type of games, with our recent run, but they made it very difficult for us.

"We've come off after 90-minutes, not conceding and they didn't have a shot on target.

"We are all disappointed. We will have days like this. We won't get too down and not beat myself up about it.

"I'm pleased for Taylor who made his debut and got a clean sheet, that's a positive.

"We are missing players, but we are in the hat for Monday's draw."
