Derry Wants Sense Of Realism

14 December 2014

Manager Shaun Derry has asked for a sense of realism after the Swindon loss...

The Magpies lost 3-0 to Swindon Town as the Robins climbed to the top of the league and the boss wants everyone connected to the club to realise how far they have come in a short space of time.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham post-match that it was easy to forget their position just 12 months ago and praised his side for where they sit now, seventh in League One.

Meanwhile Derry also praised the visitors after a fantastic display.

He said: "We are obviously disappointed. It has been and I'm hoping it will continue to be a successful season for us, but we have got to take our medicine today.

"Fair credit to Swindon. They are the best team I've seen at this level.

"They played fantastically well.

"It hurts, but they played really well, we didn't perform as well as we could do. That's where we are and we need people here to have a sense of realism.

"To see where we were and where we are now. We are competing against some very big teams at our level and we are still in and around the playoffs.

"I'm looking at the positives and I'm disappointed there was a nervousness from the boys this afternoon.

"We have no divine right to win every game. We will move forward because we have a brilliant game on Tuesday and some exciting games this Christmas.

"It's a big month, the Christmas period always tells you where a team is and I'm delighted where we are at the moment.

"I'm hoping we are competitive on Tuesday night."
