Manager Shaun Derry stood in the tunnel a proud manager after his side battled to earn a point at home to Leyton Orient…
The boss was delighted with how his side coped with one of the favourites for promotion, but was saddened to hear rumours that his good friend and Orient Manager Russell Slade was under pressure from their board.
Both manager's spoke straight after the final whistle to BBC Radio Nottingham's Colin Slater after the 1-1 draw at Meadow Lane.
Derry told Magpie Player: "If Russell does lose his job, which there are rumours flying about, and that's absolute outrage to the game and profession. I'm not having it. The games gone.
"It's incredible to what he's done for Leyton Orient and other clubs. I've known him for years and it's a disgrace.
"If that's the case, it's scandalous and he'll walk into a job I'm sure.
"It's early days for everyone. We've had our ups and downs already this season.
"Orient are a really good team. They are a top team and they gave us a great game.
"We were under a lot of pressure. I thought it would be a harder game than at the weekend and it was proven.
"I felt at times in the first half we put them on the back foot, but listen, they had four players in team of the year last year and looking at the subs they brought on.
"But right at the end, we were still in the game. We might have been under pressure for 35-minutes in the second half, but we still had the odd chance.
"If we encountered Orient with the squad last year, we would have crumbled and we didn't, we stuck in and I'm really proud.
"They are an unbelievable set of lads and they are still learning. They've been together three months and there's plenty to come."
Orient boss Russell Slade, who of course used to manage the Magpies in the mid 90s added: "I think I've got a conversation with the president in the next ten minutes. He wanted a win tonight, but we'll talk it through and see where that leaves me, probably not in a good place.
"We gave everything tonight to get a result. Shaun and myself go back a long way and it's nice to hear his support.
"The fans, who were magnificent, have travelled a long way and they don't want to see me go, but we have a new owner and they want to move forward quicker than we can right now.
"I think I'm the best manager at Orient in 40-years according to the stats and it's difficult to take.
"It's one of those situations which you can't control, I can control the response and the response tonight was magnificent."
