Derry: Congratulations To The Boys

1 October 2014

Manager Shaun Derry again praised his squad after a big three points away to Crewe...

The three points moves Notts up to 10th, keeps the unbeaten away record going, maintains the record of having the best defence in the league and makes it five games unbeaten.

The Magpies beat Crewe comfortably thanks to goals from strikers Jake Cassidy and Shaun Harrad.

The boss also picked out midfielders Liam Noble and debutant Stephen McLaughlin after impressive displays.

He told Magpie Player: "It was a comfortable night in the end, but we expected a tough night, and the lads approached the game really well and they made it a night we could all enjoyable. Congratulations to the boys.

"Our position might surprise people, but who knows where we will finish. It's where we are, it's a great platform. We have tried make ourselves hard to beat, and we are looking at the right time and I felt the past two weeks we've managed to build on our success in the defensive units.

"At times we are looking for that creativity and tonight it worked with three goals and our biggest win of the season.

"It's a great night. I would love to win with these margins all the time, but it just didn't happen.

"I asked them to be ruthless and we took our chances.

"It's a big week, we would love to get the same sort of result on Saturday. If we perform well, the results will come. I will back the lads to start to score goals.

"Part one is done, now we go into the weekend's game full of confidence. We will now make sure our recovery is right and then perform at the weekend. That's all I ask for the lads.

"I'm delighted for both Jake and Shaun to be amongst the goals. They've both settled and they were good tonight. There is a partnership looking nice.

"I also have to praise Liam Noble who was outstanding, he was top draw. He's a good player. He produced the goods and he's a great character, he's a fool, but we need some of them in the dressing room.

"And then Stephen McLaughlin's creativity shone through. We waited for him and he came in at the right time."
