Yates: It’s Fantastic To Be Back

3 July 2015

Defensive Coach Dean Yates spoke to Magpie Player for the first time after his arrival at the back-end of last season…

The former Notts player joined Manager Ricardo Moniz’s back room staff towards the end of last season and is hoping that he can used that experience to help the club bounce back at the first attempt.

Yates, like the rest of his colleagues has been working tirelessly at Meadow Lane throughout the summer, to ensure the right players arrive through the doors to help the Magpies this time round.

He told Magpie Player: “It was surreal when i first arrived and now we are all buoyed with a new season and excited with the players that have joined already.

“I’ve been at Meadow Lane most of the summer and there has been a massive change. We have been looking to get players in with better quality than last season.

“We’ve been working tirelessly throughout the summer, meeting a lot of players, a lot of long days and hopefully that time will prove successful when we start the season.

“We want players to reach a high standard. The new lads are down to earth and want to succeed. They have put it in the training field.

“A lot has changed when I played. Back in my day, it was all done on the Embankment, Wollaton Hall, Colwick, a lot of running and a lot of hills. On day two, we got the balls out.

“Now, we make the best on what we’ve got. I’m trying to educate the lads here that they are lucky to have a place like Arnold to train at compared to what I was used to.”
