Notts County were saddened to hear on Thursday of the passing of David Simmons, the club’s Head of Business Development.
Simmons, who had worked with Notts Chairman Ray Trew for 10 years, had been instrumental in striking deals with the likes of Carlsberg, Haart and Bidvest 3663 during his time with the club.
He was well-known to sponsors and we are sure will be sorely missed by them also, after he passed away on Thursday morning, after a battle with illness.
Mr Trew said: “Having known and worked with David for so long, it is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to him, but I would also like to thank him for all of the work that he put in to bring in some key commercial deals over the years.
“It was some solace that my wife Aileen and I were able to be with David during his final moments and having struggled with illness in recent weeks we hope that he has now found peace.”
