Familiar face returns to Meadow Lane to join first team coaching staff...
Notts County can confirm that Dave Kevan has rejoined the club as part of a new-look coaching team that the Board of Directors are assembling in readiness for the arrival of the new Manager.
Chairman Ray Trew is currently searching for a new First Team Manager to take over from Shaun Derry, who left the club in March, but the Board of Directors had already highlighted the need for a new, more focused backroom team to support the new Manager.
That is why they have turned to Kevan, who was Assistant Manager at Meadow Lane when Notts lifted the League 2 title in the 2009.10 season, with further announcements to be made in the coming weeks.
Mr Trew explained: “In setting out on our search for a new Manager I had a very clear idea of what I wanted, which was someone who could excite the supporters and bring a new brand of football to Meadow Lane.
“I have spoken to numerous people and thought long and hard about how I see that developing and my vision is to have a core team of coaches who know English football, know this level of the game and, more importantly, know Notts County.
“This team will work alongside a Manager who can bring an attractive style of play to the side through the very best coaching methods and ideas, with a view to adapting them to a model that will be successful and eye-catching next season.
“Our immediate aim though remains securing our place in Sky Bet League 1 for next season, so we have had to start putting things in place now to help ensure we achieve that and Dave’s arrival is, I think, a big step in the right direction on that front.”
Kevan will work alongside Acting Academy Manager Paul Hart and Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall, who have taken control of the first team for the foreseeable future whilst the club continues its search for a permanent successor to Shaun Derry.
