Curtis Thompson: That Was One Of The Best Games I've Ever Played In

Curtis Thompson looks ahead to the trip to Oldham Athletic this weekend...

Midfielder Curtis Thompson spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of the Sky Bet League 1 game away to Oldham Athletic and having established himself back in the starting line-up recently, he was looking forward to getting more game time under his belt.

Thompson, who has started both of the last two matches in midfield for Notts, puts his return down to hard work on the training ground and is now hoping to keep his place in the side.

“I’m to delighted to be back in the squad, let alone back in the team,” the 21-year-old Academy graduate told the assembled journalists. “I’m just glad to be playing and looking to just kick on from now.

“Being in and out the side, you’ve just got to adjust to it really, you’ve got to train hard, work hard to get back in the squad, back in the team and obviously it pays off, I’m back in the squad now and playing.”

Having been involved the last time that Notts travelled to Oldham, on that memorable final day of the season last year, Thompson has fond memories of the SportsDirect.com Park as it is now known.

He said of that 1-1 draw that helped secure Notts’ place in League 1 last season: “That was one of the best games I’ve ever played in, the atmosphere was just amazing, the fans were backing us to the fullest, it was a great day and great result as well.”

However, the midfielder is now solely focused on taking each game as it comes, adding: “We always look onto the next game, there’s always an opportunity from the next game to grasp three points and we’ll just start again and hopefully we’ll get a good result this weekend.”
