Another Day, It's A Hat-Trick

18 August 2013

On another day, midfielder Callum McGregor may have scored a hat-trick but at the Banks's Stadium he just could not get the ball over the line.

McGregor was named as Notts County's Man of the Match in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Walsall.

The on-loan Celtic youngster was a constant menace in the final third and was involved in most of the Magpies' attacking moves, many of them individual efforts.

McGregor was denied by the post and, on several occasions, the in-form home stopper, Richard O'Donnell.

"I was desperately unlucky, having had a good few shots but it's one of those days where if it's not going to go in, it's not going to go in," he told Magpie Player.

"I just try to do the best for my team and try to make things happen, try to create goals and score goals, so I'm happy with my performance.

"The first game I scored the goal and got the assist but I'm starting to feel a lot more comfortable in the team and with my role.

"The lads have been excellent in helping me settle in so I think Walsall has been my best performance."

Although disappointed not to get on the scoresheet and see the team's dominance turned into a win, McGregor was happy to see County attain their first point of the 2013.14 campaign.

He continued: "The manager said we needed to get something from the game and we've done that.

"It should have been three points but it's good to get up and running and hopefully we can go and get more points."
