On-loan Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jake Cassidy officially started his Notts County loan spell in style with a tremendous finish against Preston North End.
Cassidy rifled beyond Lilywhites goalkeeper Jamie Jones from a tight angle to give Notts the lead at Deepdale.
The striker’s overall performance also impressed the travelling County fans and he hopes it is the first of many eye-catching displays in the Black and White stripes.
He said: “It was definitely good to get on the scoresheet early doors and it’s a shame that we didn’t win, but it was a positive start.
“I hit it well and if you get it on target, there’s always a chance it will go in and fortunately for me it went on the ‘keeper’s near side.
“It’s nice to get the first goal with my first shot, so hopefully I can kick on from there.
“I’ll keep working hard and hopefully the chances and the goals will continue to come.
“When I went to Tranmere the first and second time I was full of confidence and everything I seemed to touch seemed to go in there.
“Hopefully I can recreate that here and get the goals again.”
