We showed character

Notts County manager John Sheridan was pleased with the reaction of his side as they drew 2-2 with Peterborough United at Meadow Lane in the Emirates FA Cup second round.

The Magpies found themselves 2-0 down against the League One outfit after a quarter of an hour with Leonardo Da Silva Lopes and Gwion Edwards on target but Adam Campbell reduced the deficit before Peterborough's Lee Angol saw red following an altercation with Matt Tootle.

Substitute Aaron Collins hit the bar from 12 yards and it seemed as though Notts would exit the competition but Louis Laing scored at the death to rescue a replay at the ABAX Stadium.

Sheridan said: "We showed a lot of character to come back. We kept going and definitely deserved a draw - possibly even to win.

"Once we went 2-0 down that was when we rolled our sleeves up and had a go. Sometimes you need that as a manager. I think the fans appreciated the way the players went about getting back into the gam. Full credit to the players.

"There was a lot of willingness in us and a desire to get the ball and create something, which we did a lot better than in previous games.

"Going to Peterborough for the replay will be tough but we are still in the hat and we have to believe we can get through the tie."
