They'll throw everything at us

24 March 2017

Kevin Nolan expects Wycombe Wanderers to 'throw everything' at his Notts County side this weekend.

Notts travel to Adams Park looking to move another step closer to EFL safety but, with the Chairboys only three points adrift of the play-off places, both sides still have plenty to play for.

"You're never going to get an easy game against Wycombe," said Nolan. "I know Gareth [Ainsworth, Wycombe boss] well and he is a lovely fella.

"We're going to have to go down there and match them because they are going to throw everything at us and I have told the lads that.

"They have Akinfenwa up top who is always a handful and there are plenty of other threats too. They are a strong unit and do the right things more often than not which is why they are chasing a play-off place.

"We think we have found some weaknesses we can exploit but the lads have to step up and deal with the problems they are going to pose."

Although he is unbeaten in seven games at Meadow Lane, Nolan is keen to see his team show some consistency in their performances on their travels having won two and lost four on the road under the Scouser.

He said: "One thing we have to get right is replicating our home form on the road. We need to strike a balance.

"We can't go and play open, expansive football all the time when we play away from home. There will be times in games when we can do that but we need to pick the right moments. It's about game management.

"We are trying different things and hopefully we will see it come to fruition on Saturday."
