School of the Week is up and running for the 16/17 season

4 July 2016

School of the Week is up and running for the 16/17 season with the popular Notts County scheme available for schools to get behind the Magpies.

For some children it is the first ever live match they have seen and it gives everyone the chance to support Notts County.

The best part is that the scheme allows the club to give pupils at surrounding schools an opportunity to purchase cut-priced tickets - available at only £5 for adults and £1 for children – and gives them a great opportunity to watch live football with their family and friends at an affordable rate.

50 per cent of the money raised by School of the Week is given back to the schools to help fund new equipment and improve the learning experience.

Steve Behrend, deputy headmaster at Wilford Primary School in Nottingham, was full of praise for the initiative.

He said: "This is a brilliant scheme and just one of a number of opportunities at Notts County that our school has taken up.

"As a result of this scheme, we now have an ongoing relationship with Notts County, which has involved other discounted opportunities and planned visits from the club to the school."

Matt Lawson, Community Officer & Club Dietitian, runs the project and said “This is a wonderful project that has won us awards with the football league and it is something we are incredibly proud of. Building a new generation of fans is so important for the future lifeblood of the Club”.
