We kept pushing on

27 August 2016

Notts County manager John Sheridan was pleased with the way his team ‘pushed on’ after equalising at Crawley this afternoon.

The Magpies found themselves a goal down in the early stages of the second half but turned the match on its head to win 3-1.

And, while disappointed to concede the first goal once again, Sheridan was happy with the players’ response.

He said: “We were talking a great game at half-time and then we came out and conceded an absolute shocker of a goal. But I think it gave us a kick up the backside.

“I thought we were the better team - we were strong - and got the break with the own goal. From then on we looked comfortable and were pushing on.

“Once we got in the lead I felt we were going to win the game.”

This was Notts’ second away win in succession following last week’s success at Hartlepool and Sheridan praised his side for securing two excellent results following a difficult start to the campaign.

He said: “To come away from home and win two games is a good comeback from the players. It’s a good feeling - we get a bit of confidence.

“We’ve got three home games now, including Hartlepool, and we’ve got to win as many as we can and get in the mix.”

Sheridan's interview will be available to view on Magpie Player HD later.
