Game management

26 August 2016

Notts County defender Carl Dickinson believes strong game management will be key to victory at Crawley Town.

The Magpies head to Sussex in pursuit of a second successive victory on the road.

But Dickinson knows it will take a disciplined display to compete with Crawley.

He said: "Apparently it's going to be a really hot day so we've got to manage the game properly, especially being away from home. We need to do the dirty stuff first and then play some of the good football we've shown over the last few weeks.

"We need to stop giving goals away - that needs to get out of our game quickly. I hate it, but it's something we're still trying to work on and we will get it right.

"It's going to be a tough game but it always is."

Anyone who has viewed Notts' behind-the-scenes gallery from yesterday's first-team photoshoot will have noticed Dickinson's jovial nature.

And, while he admits to being an outgoing character, he knows when it's time to knuckle down.

Dickinson said: "It's a good dressing room. From day one I felt comfortable.

"It always helps knowing a couple of lads already, but I'm just myself - it might be a bit of an eye-opener for some people - but I'm just an honest lad who likes to have a laugh.

"I always train right and give 100% day in, day out."
