No time to dwell

Notts County's Carl Dickinson says he still has a part to play against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday despite being unavailable for selection.

The wing back picked up his fifth booking of the season against Morecambe on Tuesday night, earning him a one-match suspension.

But Dickinson, who has been captaining the side in the absence of the injured Michael O'Connor, still believes he can have a positive impact this weekend.

He said: "Come Saturday I’ll be in the changing room trying to get the lads going. I’m gutted I’m going to miss it.

"I’ll just keep being myself around the training ground - keep working hard day in day out because next week will come around quickly.

"I’ve got to make sure I’m doing everything right on the training pitch and in the gym."

Dickinson admits there is disappointment in the camp after two consecutive league defeats, but believes there is no use dwelling on the past.

He said: "As you can imagine, we’re disappointed with the way we’ve performed in the last two games. It’s not good but we’re not just going to sit around and feel sorry for ourselves – football’s unforgiving and you have to come in, roll your sleeves up and get on with things.

"It’s not always going to be perfect. Luckily in the lower leagues games come round thick and fast and you can’t dwell on things.

"On Saturday we've got to try to do the right things and make sure we get three points. We have to keep believing in what we're doing and make sure we cut out these stupid individual mistakes."
