Matt Tootle Signs for The Magpies

23 June 2016

Notts County are pleased to announce defender Matt Tootle as our second signing of the summer.

Tootle joins on a two-year contract after leaving Shrewsbury Town, having made 16 appearances for the club in League One last season.

 

The 25-year-old defender progressed through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra, having joined them at the age of eight. He made his debut in November 2009 and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club in all competitions, becoming captain for the team in March 2014 - a year in which he also won the club’s player of the season.

 

Tootle is no stranger to League Two, having won promotion from the division with Crewe via the play-offs in 2012, before going on to win the Football League Trophy at Wembley with the club a year later.

“I’m delighted to get it over the line. It’s a big club and from what I can see, everything that’s happening at the club says it’s going to be successful next season.”

 

The players are expected to begin pre-season training for the 2016/17 season on 30th June.
