Make Meadow Lane a fortress

23 February 2017

Kevin Nolan has urged his side to make the most of home advantage as the Magpies prepare to host Yeovil Town on Saturday.

The Notts boss is yet to taste defeat at Meadow Lane since taking charge on 12 January and his side are unbeaten in their previous three matches.

But the manager is keen to maintain focus ahead of the battle with Darren Way's side.

"We can't rest on our laurels," he said. "We have proven we are a good side and we can match anyone but we have to go out and prove it again against Yeovil.

"The players have set the standards for themselves now and they cannot drop below it or they'll have me to answer to.

"We need to get a fortress mentality at home and go on a run which will make teams not want to come to Meadow Lane.

"Hopefully Yeovil will be going home disappointed on Saturday come 5pm."

Now six weeks into the job, the Scouser says he thoroughly enjoys his work, particularly given the recent good run of results.

He said: "It's brilliant because you feel as if you are one again whereas, when you are losing games, you feel disjointed.

"When you're winning and getting a bit of consistency the fans love it and it just feels like you are all together.

"You saw it at Leyton Orient after the full-time whistle when the players were over at the fans and everyone was enjoying the moment. We have to keep building that relationship.

"All we ask is the fans stick with us because we are trying everything we can and I guarantee every player will give 110%. That is all a fan ever asks for when they walk through the turnstile."

The manager will be without Richard Duffy, who will serve a two-game suspension after accumulating 10 yellow cards, but Thierry Audel could figure after returning to training this week.
