Post-Hartlepool: Louis Laing

21 August 2016

Notts County's Louis Laing was delighted to help Jon Stead continue his scoring run today.

After levelling the scores with a cool finish at Hartlepool this afternoon, Laing turned provider with a superb assist for Stead to win the match.

Recent signing Laing, on loan from Motherwell, took the ball from his centre-back position to the edge of Hartlepool's area before leaving the rest to Stead, who has now scored three in three.

And, while he admits he briefly had other ideas, Laing was all too happy to lay the ball off for the front man.

He said: "The space opened up and I just thought I'd drive into it. I think that's one of the strengths of my game - when I've got space ahead of me I can step into it.

"I was about to pull the trigger myself actually - thankfully enough I didn't and I set the goal up!

"It would have been nice to score two but it's great to help Steady get another one."

Buoyed by the fact they have now claimed their first victory of the season, Laing believes the positive mood among the players can only bode well for future matches.

He said: "I think the change in atmosphere will bring a change in confidence.

"I don't think we were lacking in confidence before today, but with the three points we can go into the next game knowing that chances might fall for us now and that out luck might have just changed."

Laing's kit is still available to sponsor. For more information, email sales@nottscountyfc.co.uk or call 0115 955 7241.
