Two teams giving everything

19 February 2017

Notts County forward Jon Stead says both teams gave 'everything' in yesterday's 3-2 victory at Leyton Orient.

The Os showed tremendous spirit to turn around a two-goal deficit before the 33-year-old popped up with a late winner.

And Stead, who had already scored once and assisted Jorge Grant for the opener, believes both sides produced a performance that belied their league positions.

He said: "Both teams showed a decent amount of quality and I think someone watching the game from the outside wouldn't know it was two teams at the bottom of the league.

"You had two teams giving everything to get a result. The crowd were fantastic to be fair and when they got the equaliser we had to be strong enough to turn the game around and we managed to do that.

"We're becoming a decent side at home and the manager has been on at us to make sure we take the basics on the road as well. For large parts of the game we did that.

"We're working hard - we're getting fitter and stronger and I really think it's showing."

More than 700 Notts supporters made the journey to east London and Stead says such a healthy following is indicative of the positive mood flowing through the club.

He said of the away fans: "They were fantastic - they have been all season through difficult times.

"It's nice now they've got the belief back and I think that's been instilled by the manager and new owner.

"They're bringing the buzz back to the club and it helps us on the field."
