Notts County Football in the Community (FITC) would like to thank Magpies fans for their support at Saturday’s Community Day fixture against Crewe.
Early indications show that more than 3,000 people took advantage of free tickets, which FITC distributed to local primary schools, charities and community organisations.
Many supporters headed to the FITC fanzone before the game to take enjoy a variety of pre-match activities, a special FITC edition of the Mag was produced for the match and a number of fans generously donated sports clothing to the charity’s kit amnesty which will be distributed during their volunteer trip to Kenya in November.
FITC events executive Neil Kelly was delighted with the turn out and the response of the fans to the activities.
He said: “We wanted to create a real community feel before the game and hopefully fans felt we did that.
"It was great to see a constant stream of children enjoying the face-painting, table football, inflatables, and music that we organised.
"We were also delighted that so many families enjoyed taking a look at the police van and fire engine that were brought along to support the day, while there were also some brilliant photos taken using our FITC selfie frame!
"Many told us it was their first visit to Meadow Lane and we certainly hope that everyone who came enjoyed their day and will be keen to come back again soon.”
Around 170 guests of FITC, including local MPs, councillors, businesses, funders and partners, attended a pre-match lunch and enjoyed listening to the thoughts of participants from FITC’s projects in the 1862 suite. The lunch was hosted by trustees and broadcasters Colin Slater and Andrew James and included a pre-match interview with Notts assistant manager Mark Crossley.
Community director Steve Hill said: “Notts County Football in the Community wish to thank those who attended and everyone who was involved in making our annual Community Day a success.
"We had plenty going on both in and around the ground to help make it a special day and the feedback we’ve had has been very positive.
"We offer our thanks to Notts County Football Club for their support. This is another great example of the football club and its charity working together.
"Community Day is important for us to help raise awareness of our work and we hope to be able to continue to engage the club’s fans throughout the season with our ongoing initiatives.”
