Chief Executive Update

21 July 2016

An update from Notts County CEO, Jason Turner

We are now midway through our pre-season schedule, and the squad have already played five friendly matches. Whilst fitness and team shape are more important than results or performances at this stage, we are encouraged at how well the squad have gelled both on and off the pitch.

I would like to thank our friends at Rolls Royce Leisure, Carlton Town, Ilkeston, Alfreton Town and Arnold Town for hosting us.

We now look forward to three home matches before the League season kicks off with our visit to Yeovil Town on Saturday 6th August.

First up we welcome our near neighbours, Nottingham Forest, for Mike Edwards’ testimonial match this coming Saturday at 3.00pm. I would encourage as many of you as possible to attend to support Eddie’s special day, and make it a memorable occasion for him. You couldn’t wish to meet a more deserving guy.

Walsall are our next visitors on Tuesday 26th July at 7.45pm, before Blackburn Rovers visit on Sunday 31st July at 3.00pm. Prices for all of these matches are available from the ticket office, on our website and across our social media platforms.

John Sheridan has also agreed to hold an open training session on the Meadow Lane pitch on Saturday 30th July. Gates will open at 10.30am on the day, with training to be followed by a signing session and photo opportunity for those attending on the day. The Club Shop will be open from 9.00am until 1.30pm, where all ticketing enquiries and purchases can be made.

Although we won’t be participating in the Central (Development) League next season, we have entered the Central League Cup, which will see us play a minimum of three matches in that competition. These fixtures will be supplemented by a number of friendly fixtures as and when required.

We will be revealing our new playing kit within the next 24 hours, so season ticket holders should keep an eye on their inbox tomorrow morning for an exclusive first glimpse of the images. These pictures will then be released across our website and social media later in the morning.

You will recall that I mentioned in my last update that I inherited a situation which sees us receiving our kit supply later than I would’ve expected. It is hugely frustrating that it is now unlikely we will have a retail stock of home shirts until mid-August, with the away offering to follow in early September. I can assure you that our Retail Manager, Lynn Lawson, and I are working tirelessly with our suppliers to get kit to the Club as soon as possible.

I am as disappointed as you will be to hear this news, but I will ensure that steps are taken to avoid this happening in future seasons. I will update you further as soon as we receive more news.

We will still offer first priority to season ticket holders to buy their home shirts ahead of general sale. We will communicate further details in due course.

Season ticket sales remain constant and our Ticket Office are currently finalising the deliverables to enable us to start issuing season ticket packs over the next week or so. A date will be announced shortly when these will be available for collection.

A number of staff changes have taken place behind the scenes over recent weeks and I would like to thank Richard Cokayne, Chris Wiseman and Peter Jarvis for their contribution to the Club, and wish them well in their future careers. Our First Team Analyst, Craig Cope, has secured a position at a Championship club and will also leave with our best wishes early next month.

Debbie Irving has already joined us as Academy Secretary, and will be followed by Nick Richardson as Media & Communications Manager at the start of August, with Simon Fotheringham following later in the month as Commercial Operations Manager. I would like to welcome them all to the Club.

The Board have been fully supportive of these appointments and I thank them for their continued backing. There is nothing new to report on the ownership situation so it’s business as usual for us all as we look ahead with excitement to the new season. Having now been at the Club for a few months, I think it’s fair to say that my staff now know me and the way I work and there is a positive buzz around the Club.

You Pies!
