A brilliant feeling

28 January 2017

Notts County striker Jonathan Forte was delighted to be the match winner against his former club as Notts beat Crawley 2-1 at Meadow Lane.

The striker sidefooted home his 10th of the season after Haydn Hollis' initial effort was saved by Glenn Morris to cause pandemonium in the stands as Notts ended a run of 14 games without a win.

"It feels great, we haven’t won in a long time so scoring the winner is a brilliant feeling," said the attacker.

"We got ourselves back into it, created some chances, got a few corners and then a goal.

"In the past few weeks that wouldn’t have happened. They’d have gone down the other end and scored but obviously this time we’ve got the goal and we're all delighted."

Forte was quick to praise the Notts supporters for their influence on the victory, saying: "It felt like there were about 10,000 here in the ground and they all got behind us which was great.

"Obviously we haven’t been having a good time in the last couple of months but, since the new manager has come in, we’ve stepped our game up a little bit more and hopefully it can continue."
